(refashion) Summer Cardi

One of my favorite projects is to take an old, most likely thrifted
sweater and turn it into a cardigan.
This is nothing new-everyone does it, and there are loads of tutorials all over the place.
But I thought I would share with you how I do it anyway.

I really have needed a navy cardigan for a long time.  (and I really really need a mustard one, but still on the hunt for that one...) Finally a couple of months ago I found a lightweight one at a thrift store.

I worked my magic :) and so here is how it turned out:
Much better as a cardi with shorter sleeves.
This one I kept plain, but you can add buttons, or embellish it like

Here is how I do it:

And you're done!

  10. Hi AnnieNZ-
Any fusible bonding/double stick fusible tape will do the same thing, so if you can't find Steam-A-Seam, there are other things that will do the same thing. Thanks for stopping by!

  11. I knew there had to be a way to make a pullover into a cardigan, but I wouldn't have thought of a way that looked so well finished. I'm linking to your post. Thanks for sharing.

  12. Wow, that sweater looks really nice after you revamped it into a cardigan! I will never see pull over sweaters the same, now I feel the need to check my closets. :D
